NewSpace India Ltd. (), the government’s commercial space arm, plans to invest Rs 10,000 crore over the next five years to own and operate satellites as well as launch rockets, its top officials said.

It is also in talks with the country’s space agency—Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to acquire its fleet of remote sensing and communication satellites, they said.

“We will invest Rs 2,000 crore per year for the next five years,” D Radhakrishnan, director - technical and strategy at NSIL, said on Friday.

NSIL is in talks with the Department of Space to own and operate two new communication satellites for which an Indian telecom operator as well as a Direct-to-Home provider has signed up as customers. It has also floated a request for proposal to five Indian firms to build the workhorse polar satellite launch vehicle (PSLV) and expects to close the vendor in five months, Radhakrishnan said. The initial order would be for five PSLV rockets.

NSIL is also drawing up a requirement for new satellites in consultation with various users and start procuring, owning, launching and providing services, primarily in the communication sector, NSIL Chairman G. Narayanan said.

1. NSIL is also established as Public sector enterprise, so your point that it will not have to follow the legal or procedures are not right.
2. Let me tell you that there was scandal in ANTRIX Corporation and those members only now leading to NSIL.
3. We should see every profession with equal respect, the way its followed in 1st world country. "Baboos" tag is inappropriate who actually following the law makers.
4. Efficient goverenece can do wonders. And that will, not only produce many TATAs, Ambanis or Elon Musk but also keep the spirit high for IAS and IPS as they already proved themselves by clearing those IAS and IPS difficult test.
5. Efficient goverenece- identify the problem with brainstorming session in current agencies and fix it micro level is challenging where Current govt is believing in Renaming/cutting ribbon/innogration which is is easy task.
6. PM was wrong.

ISRO already has commercial wing called "Antrix Corporation Limited". then why NSIL required? You can read on their website and both has same objectives including technology transfer and expand service to other country/customers. Strange! Hope its not same name labeling actions to make ppl fool to show that they initiated this new thought process/idea and nothing has happened since independence.

Why not invite Musk and Bezos with or without Indian partners. The competition will do good all around.
