India vs England: Team Needs to Walk the Talk; They Say Something, Do Something Else-Virender Sehwag

After their huge loss to England in the first of the five match T20I series, a lot of fans were left angry with some of the tactics used by the Indian think tank. One among them was to drop Rohit Sharma from the series opener. There were other glaring mistakes as well as England made the hosts pay.

One among them was to drop Rohit Sharma from the series opener. There were other glaring mistakes as well as England made the hosts pay.Former India opener Virender Sehwag too said that Team India are inconsistent as they say something and do something else on the field.

“I think they say something and then do something else. The statements that the Indian team gives do not match when they step on to the field,” Sehwag said in a video interview with Cricbuzz.  He also said that he fears that if Rishabh Pant becomes a bit inconsistent he will be benched.

“They said we will back Rishabh Pant but he was dropped from ODI and T20I. When he scored runs in Test cricket then they said Pant is fit so they brought him back in T20s. Even now they are saying we will allow Rishabh Pant to play freely but after two or three matches if he gets out for 21 off 23 balls then he will again be seen on the bench. So the statements don’t match with what they do on-field,” Sehwag added.

England beat India in the first T20I by eight wickets.An all-round England thumped India by eight wickets in the opening T20I of the five-match series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. In a perfect day’s play for the visitors, they restricted India to 124 for 7 upon winning the toss and then smashed the chase in just 15.3 overs. Jofra Archer was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 23 from his 4 overs while Jason Roy top scored for England with 49.

India’s batsmen struggled to score freely before Shreyas Iyer showed the way with a dogged 67-run knock that gave India a decent total.The home batsmen never got the momentum going in the series-opener as England’s pace-heavy attack, including Mark Wood, used the extra bounce effectively to trouble them.

Most of the Indian batsmen went for flashy shots when placement would have served them well. The track had varied pace and required patience from batsmen.
