Shoaib Akhtar 'Humbled' As Rawalpindi's KRL Stadium Renamed After Him

Akhtar represented Pakistan in 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20Is between 1997 to 2011. He was recognized as the world’s fastest bowler, having bowled a delivery at 161.3 km/h (100.23 mph) in an ODI against England.

There was a time when Pakistan cricket minus Shoaib Akhtar was hard to imagine. Be it his indomitable attitude or his lion-hearted bowling action, the 45-year-old made millions of fans across Pakistan and of course world wide with his never-say-die spirit.

That’s why in a mark of tribute the Pakistan cricket authorities have renamed Rawalpindi’s KRL Stadium after this legendary pacer.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Shoaib said: “Humbled and honoured to share that the historic KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi has been renamed as Shoaib Akhtar Stadium. I am rarely ever lost for words but today I am! I truly have no words to thank everyone for the love & respect i have received over the years.”

Akhtar represented Pakistan in 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20Is between 1997 to 2011. He was recognized as the world’s fastest bowler, having bowled a delivery at 161.3 km/h (100.23 mph) in an ODI against England. Earlier he had expressed his displeasure over the postponement of the PSL due to Covid-19 outbreak. He has now launched a fresh attack on ‘incompetent PCB’ from such an occurrence. In his latest video, he has lambasted PCB chairman Ehsan Mani and the medical panel, and requested PM Imran Khan to take matters in his own hands.

He went on to say that CEO Wasim Khan was being made the scapegoat, and that he is only person running the show in the board.
