Chahal now has 60 wickets from 46 T20Is at an economy of 8.34 per over. On the other hand, Bumrah has 59 from 50 T20Is at 20.25 and an economy rate of 6.66 runs per over. It was also another feat for Chahal as this was his 100th international match for India, after he made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in Harare, back in 2016. In ODI cricket, Chahal has better returns, 92 wickets from 54 matches.
Meanwhile, an all-round England thumped India by eight wickets in the opening T20I of the five-match series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. In a perfect day’s play for the visitors, they restricted India to 124 for 7 upon winning the toss and then smashed the chase in just 15.3 overs. Jofra Archer was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 23 from his 4 overs while Jason Roy top scored for England with 49.
India’s batsmen struggled to score freely before Shreyas Iyer showed the way with a dogged 67-run knock that gave India a decent total.
The home batsmen never got the momentum going in the series-opener as England’s pace-heavy attack, including Mark Wood, used the extra bounce effectively to trouble them.

Most of the Indian batsmen went for flashy shots when placement would have served them well. The track had varied pace and required patience from batsmen.
Iyer though gauged the nature of the pitch quickly and adjusted his game accordingly, playing a sensible innings that helped them cross the 100-run mark. Laced with eight boundaries and a six, and coming off 48 balls, it is Iyer’s best T20 knock. He fell in the last over.
