Not all heroes wear capes, some just wear a uniform. A Railway Police Force (RPF) personnel has become the internet’s latest hero after he saved the life of a person. The incident happened after a passenger fell in the gap between the train and the platform at Vasco station in Goa. While the efforts of the personnel have been lauded on the internet, some netizens have also raised concerns regarding the need to implement some strict safety measures. Quite a few people also came heavily on the passenger, calling him out for his reckless behaviour.
In the CCTV footage shared by the Ministry of Railways, one can see the man running in order to board a moving train. In his attempt to do so, he apparently lost his grip and fell. In a matter of seconds, the Railway Police personnel sprang into action and timely pulled the passenger out. As per the official information, the man was trying to board the Vasco da Gama–Patna Superfast Express.
The ministry in their tweet has appreciated the RPF employee’s efforts but have also urged people to not risk their lives by attempting to board a moving train. In a part of their tweet, the Railways said, “Passengers are requested not to board/deboard a moving train. It may risk your life.”
Lauding the heroic act of KM Patil, the RPF staff, the department wrote, “Life-saving act by RPF personnel at Vasco station in SWR!”

Reacting to the post, a bunch of people shared examples of how different countries and organisations take measures to ensure such incidents don’t take place. A user also shared the example of Delhi Metro, writing how the Automatic Door Lock and Unlock system is helped in ensuring the safety of passengers.

Another user cited an example of a different country. He shared the photo of a railway platform and asked the ministry if such a thing is possible in India.

A different user urged the authorities to put a penalty on passengers who do such things. He tweeted, “Time and again Railways are putting up videos to warn passengers of the dangers of boarding a running train but nobody heeds. Such pax who do this must be penalized as a deterrent.”
