Those after a Porsche that's great to drive on track buy a GT car; those who want a Porsche that's utterly sublime on a circuit fit said GT car with parts from Manthey Racing. This is the company, don't forget, that has slashed Nurburgring lap times in recent years: seven seconds for a GT2 RS, 10 for a GT3 RS and 12 taken away for an old GT4, all without extra power. Still, when you've won as much at the Nurburgring as Manthey has, you probably get quite good at setting up Porsches.
Its latest effort focuses on the 718 GT4, and specifically an MR Performance Kit. Manthey reckons it "combines maximum performance with pure driving pleasure", which is encouraging given the standard car is hardly lacking in either department. The Performance Kit is comprised of stunning BBS forged wheels, upgraded brake pads, coilover suspension, a gurney flap, new air deflectors and MR wing brackets. If anything, the end result looks greater even than the sum of its parts, the GT4 much more aggressively poised than standard and very motorsport in its appearance. Which is exactly the point.
Manthey hasn't yet released a Nordschleife video for the GT4, though you can be almost certain that will follow in time. Because where better to show off the credentials of a track focused upgrade than the best proving ground of them all? The MR Performance Kit probably isn't going to be one for customers using their GT4 every day - look at that ride height - but track day fanatics will surely see a lot to like here.
