Hi everyone,
I have a question about PDM file management using two separate desktops.
I currently have a workstation in the office, connected to the PDF file server. There is a spare workstation that I want to use at home part-time, but IT won't allow it to connect to the PDM file server with a VPN due to a strict policy.
If I want to work on my CAD files at home, what is the best way to manage this without encountering problems?
I was thinking of using Pack and Go, taking the files home on a USB drive, then copying the revised files upon my return to the office. Is there anything I should be careful about?
There are ways for IT to fix this. We connect to PDM remotely all the time, and we also have strict policies due to aero/comm/gov products.
It seems to me either IT doesn't know how, or doesn't want to, or both.
For now, pack and go works. It's a bummer you would have to overwrite your files in PDM every time. If another user has them checked out, you then check in your updated files, you will lose some history.
