Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzak said that Indian players should not be compared to Pakistan cricketers because they have had more talents in the past. Razzak cited the likes of Mohammad Yousuf, Inzamam-ul-Haq,Saeed Anwar andIjaz Ahmed among others to prove his point.
He also went on to add that Virat Kohli and Babar Azam should not be compared because they are different players and if comparisons have to be made at all, the two nations need to play each other and then it has to be seen who is better.
“Firstly, we should not say such a thing [compare Virat Kohli with Babar Azam]. You can’t compare Indian players with Pakistan players because Pakistan has more talent,” Razzaq told Cricket Pakistan in an interview.
India last played Pakistan in a bilateral series in 2013 in limited-overs cricket. The last Test series played between the two neighboring nations was in 2007-08 in India. Since then, the two countries have only met each other in ICC tournaments.
Razzak also went on to add he doesn’t have anything against Kohli but comparisons between the two shouldn’t be done more so because Indians don’t compare Kohli with Babar.
The all-rounder also lavished praise on Babar and said that he’s a very talented player and he will go on to break all the records in the coming years if he is looked after properly.
Currently, Babar is the third ranked batsman in ODIs behind Kohli and Rohit Sharma, while he’s fourth and sixth in T20Is and Test cricket, respectively. The Pakistan captain has 7,477 runs from 155 international matches across all formats, including 17 centuries and 48 fifties.
Babar is also gaining much needed experience as a captain and has recently led Pakistan to series victories over South Africa in Tests and T20Is as the Proteas toured Pakistan for two Tests and three T20Is. Pakistan won the Test series 2-0 and T20 series 2-1.
Pakistan will now tour South Africa for 3 ODIs and four T20Is. The first ODI will be played at SuperSport Park in Centurion on April 2.
