PANAJI: On Monday, 54
cases of Covid-19 were detected in Goa, while
recoveries for the day were 110. With recoveries being higher than new cases found, the count of active cases dropped to 631. No casualties were reported during the day.
The case mortality rate was at 4% and the count of samples tested in the past 24 hours was 1,264, a comparatively low figure. The Centre has asked Goa, along with some other states, to increase RT-PCR tests.
While normally, Goa conducts 1,600-1,800 tests a day, its numbers fall on weekends when all health centres where sample collection centres have been set up, remain closed. It is unclear what strategy the directorate of health services would adopt, as for the past several months samples tested for the day have rarely crossed the 2,000-mark in a day.
On Monday, 15 patients were hospitalised and 33 isolated at home.
