New Delhi: Rajya Sabha proceedings were again postponed until 13:00 on Monday amid uproar by members of the opposition who want to hold a discussion on the issue of regular rises in fuel prices.
Minutes after the House met at 11 a.m. after the first postponement, congressmen again demanded the discussion on rising fuel prices in the country.
Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge called for a discussion on the matter.
He said it was important to discuss the issue as people were suffering due to the frequent rise in fuel prices.
Kharge said the legislative matters could be taken up later.
However, Harivansh Vice-President Rajya Sabha did not allow the discussion, as he noted that the President’s decision could not be reopened.
Former chairman M Venkaiah Naidu did not allow the discussion and said the issue could be discussed later.
While the chairman decided to continue with the legislative matters, opposition members started shouting slogans that forced the vice-chairman to adjourn the house until 13:00.
The second part of Parliament’s budget session began on Monday and ended on 8 April.
