Imphal, March 07 2021: On yesterday, in a ceremony held at Manipur University, Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Bar to Sena Medal, Director General of Assam Rifles and Professor W Chandbabu Singh, Registrar, Manipur University in presence of Professor S Santombi Singha, Vice Chancellor (in-Charge), Manipur University, Lt Gen K Himalaya Singh (Veteran) and other Faculties of Manipur University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for creation of 'Assam Rifles Chair of Excellence' .

AR signs MoU with Manipur University

The Memorandum of Understanding enables funding of research work by Assam Rifles jointly with Manipur University in the field of Conflict Studies, National Security, Socio-economic and Cultural fields with a focus on the North Eastern Region and South East Asia.

The MoU also covers conduct of one Joint Annual Seminar on mutually suitable dates, two round table discussions in a year and research on one current topic.

In first such historic collaboration with Manipur University, Assam Rifles is not only providing funding for conduct of research on the issues concerning National Security, Socio-economic and Cultural fields but also establishing new ties with higher education in Manipur which will be a catalyst for undertaking analysis of changing security paradigm in North Eastern Region together with faculty and students of University.

It will also provide assistance in establishing a vision for overall growth and development of the region.
