NEW DELHI: A three-member central team that visited the state early March has attributed a lack of
fear of the disease and
pandemic fatigue as among key factors behind February surge in
Covid cases.
The team observed that the virus is spreading to
unaffected areas, although most cases are asymptomatic. It said political leaders and doctors, may themselves not be following Covid-appropriate behaviour.
The observations were shared by the Centre after the team visited the state on March 1 and 2. The health machinery also may have become lax after cases came down after September, it said.
