NAGPUR: A cosmetics manufacturing unit of Vicco Laboratories Limited’s located at S-89 in Hingana near Nagpur was completely gutted in a fire that broke out on late Sunday night.
"We received information about the fire at 22.40pm on Sunday after which MIDC firefighting team rushed to the spot to douse the flames," said a fire officer.
Fire tenders from different locations made several rounds to douse the flames.
He added that the firefighting team sought help from Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s fire and emergency services department as they were not able to control the fire even after an hour.
The fire officer said that around 10 fire tenders from different locations -- Wadi, Mihan, Butibori -- made several rounds to douse the flames.
"It took more than eight hours for the firefighters to control the fire," said the officer.
"No casualties were reported in the incident and the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained," said the fire officer adding that the entire structure of the manufacturing unit was damaged in the incident.
Chief fire officer Rajendra Uchake said that 70% of the industry was affected due to the fire.
"NMC’s fire department said that storing of wax and alcohol added fuel to the fire," said Uchake.
