Covid-19 cases increase for third consecutive day in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: For the third consecutive day, there has been an increase in the number of fresh Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu.
On Sunday, a total of 567 people tested positive for the virus. This took the Covid-19 tally to 8,55,121.
As fresh infection rate outpaced discharge rate (521), the number of active cases in the state marginally increased to 3,997.

Nearly half of these cases were in Chennai district, which recorded 251 new cases.
The death toll in the state rose to 12,518 with a 78-year-old woman succumbing to the virus in Chennai.
New cases have increased marginally in Coimbatore (49), Trichy (9) and Madurai (9) too, compared to Saturday.
