New Delhi: Before the polls in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public gathering at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata on Sunday.
This will be the first public rally of the Prime Minister, PM Modi, in the state after the announcement of the dates for eight-phase rallies for 294 constituencies in West Bengal. According to party sources, many folk artists were invited to perform at the event.
Bollywood veteran Mithun Chakraborty is expected to attend the rally in central Kolkata venue. The national general secretary of Bharatiya Janata (BJP), Kailash Vijayvargiya, met Chakraborty in Kolkata on Saturday amid speculation that he might join the PM Modi Brigade rally in Kolkata.
On speculation about joining the BJP, Vijayvargiya said earlier: ‘I spoke to him (Mithun Chakraborty) by telephone, he is coming today. I will only be able to comment after a detailed discussion with him. ‘
The public meeting is being held a day after BJP announced its first list of 57 candidates for the ballot box and two days after the current Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced the list of 291 candidates and left three seats for its ally Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM).
BJP officials, including Kailash Vijayvargiya, national general secretary, Mukul Roy national vice-president, Sanjay Singh, general secretary and Swapan Dasgupta, MP, Rajya Sabha, are investigating preparations at Brigade Parade Ground, Kolkata, where Prime Minister Modi will hold a public meeting today address. .
After winning three seats in the 2016 election meeting in West Bengal, the BJP left deep footprints in the state in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, which won 18 seats and reduced the score from TMC to 22nd. won two seats, the Left drew a blank.
According to sources, Prime Minister Modi will address 20 meetings in the West Bengal polls to respond to the huge demand from local leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The rallies will cover all 23 districts of West Bengal.
The West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in eight phases from March 27 with the final round of voting taking place on April 29. The counting of votes in the state takes place on May 2nd.
