Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police held a virtual session with female police personnel from SHE teams, Margadarshaks, Sangahamitras from the Rachakonda Security Council and SHE for her volunteers, with a view to International Women’s Day.
The online meeting was also attended by various Rachakonda police officers including Commissioner Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, Additional Commissioner Sudheer Babu, and DCP Malkajgiri Rakshita Murthy.
In line with the “Choose to Challenge” theme of International Women’s Day, Bhagwat has called on people to break gender stereotyping. “Women are not idols to respect them just one day, but they should be respected every day,” he said.
He said that the Rachakonda police empower women by forming margadarshaks, sanghamitras, She for her, She teams and that the Rachakonda police strive to build a safe society where our daughters can have the freedom at home or outside.
The commissioner further said that through a participatory approach with RKSC, NGOs and civil society, the Rachakonda police strive to build trust-building measures in the women and the community.
Sudheer Babu said: “Women must be self-sufficient, which will be possible as a result of economic independence, and someone who achieves a status must repay to society by ensuring that everyone has equal playing field”.
Rakshitha Murthy, DCP Malkajgiri, said that no woman is perfect and that it is the imperfections that make them strong, raw and beautiful. She said she had chosen to challenge patriarchal views on beauty and that Rachakonda police, through RKSC and She teams, are implementing various programs towards women’s empowerment.
