Kolkata, Mar 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said Lotus is blooming in Bengal.

He said, "Vote against ill-governance and for freeing people of fear. Bengal wants development."

“The people of Bengal had chosen you as 'Didi' but then why did you remain the aunt of a nephew? The people of Bengal are asking only this one question from you,” Mr Modi said.

Addressing a mega rally at iconic Brigade Parade ground here, he said, "This is not the same Didi that fought the Left rule."

The Prime Minister said those talking about Mati handed over every particle of Bengal to middlemen, black marketers and syndicates. Mr Modi said Mamata Banerjee Failed Her Own 'Maa, Maati, Manush.

The PM said, "Nowadays even our opponents say that I work for friends. We all know that where we grew up in childhood, where we played, people we studied with, are sure our friends for life."

"I too grew up in poverty and so I can experience the sorrow and pain of my friends even if they are in any corner of India," he said.

"So yes, I work for friends and I will continue to work for friends only," Mr Modi said.

Taking a jibe at Mamata Banerjee, Mr Modi said, "When you took over scooty a few days ago, everyone was praying that you are safe. It is good that you did not fall, otherwise you would have made the state where the scooty was made your enemy.

“You turned your scooty towards Nandigram instead of Bhawanipur. Didi, we want the good of everyone, we do not want anyone to get hurt. But what should we do if you decide to crash your scooty in Nandigram itself," he said.

“Didi this is the voice of Bengal. They had chosen you as a Didi figure. But you only concentrated on helping your nephew,” the Prime Minister said.
