Swiss Open 2021 Final Badminton, PV Sindhu vs Carolina Marin Highlights: Carolina Marin steamrolled PV Sindhu in just 35 minutes in Basel to win the Swiss Open title. The Spaniard won the women’s singles final 21-12, 21-5 for her third title of 2021. Sindhu, the reigning world champion, simply had no answers to Marin’s relentless attack. This was Sindhu’s first final appearance since the World championships in 2019. It was Sindhu’s third successive loss to Marin, who had won both the Super 1000 events in Thailand in January before finishing runners-up at the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals.
Sindhu and Marin have faced each other 14 times and this was the first meeting between the two in over two years. Besides their senior meetings, the two also faced off in the 2010 BWF World Junior Championships in Mexico – a match the then 15-year-old PV Sindhu won against Marin, two years her senior.

Sindhu has fallen behind despite taking a lead (6-4). The powerful Carolina Marin then made a comeback by picking up the next five points and sears ahead. Meanwhile, a word from the umpire to Sindhu.. probably asking her to get ready for service quickly.
