Hyderabad: The acting president of TRS and the minister of MAUD, KT Rama Rao, said on Sunday that the state government is prepared to look after the educational needs of children of deceased journalists in the state.
“If the mothers approve, the state government will enroll such children in residential schools and the government will take care of all their educational needs,” Rama Rao assured after distributing checks of Rs one lakh each to 11 families of deceased journalists. .
He addressed a program hosted by the Telangana State Media Academy on Sunday, saying the government was working for the well-being of all sections of society, including lawyers and journalists. “Telangana is the only state that has set up an exclusive crore welfare fund of Rs.100 for the well-being of lawyers and journalists,” he said.
The state government has already given a lot of support to the journalists’ fraternity and was prepared to improve it further, he said.
The Media Academy offers financial assistance of Rs.1 lakh each to the grieving families of deceased journalists. The Minister handed over checks to the 11 families at the program and the rest were presented by representatives of the Academy.
The Minister said there were about 19,150 accredited journalists in the state, while there were only 1,000 accredited journalists in Gujarat. The state government has issued health cards to 61,500 journalists, adding that all the issues and delays regarding the cards will be discussed soon.
He called on journalists to think wisely before casting their ballots in the MLC election and expanding their support for a progressive government such as the TRS government. ‘I am aware of the long-awaited issue of housing allocation. There are some legal aspects, but the sites will in all probability be handed over within six months to one year, ”Rama Rao assured.
