LUDHIANA: Unidentified miscreants allegedly shot at a driver and injured him after a loot attempt near Gurdwara Nanaksar on Ludhiana Ferozepur road in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
The tractor driver was identified as Chamkaur Singh of Chirik road in Moga.
Police officials said that Chamkaur Singh was carrying fodder in his tractor trolley and was way from Moga to Ludhiana on Saturday night. They added that when he reached near Gurudwara Nanaksar near Jagraon, the tyre of his tractor got punctured.
Cops said that as Chamkaur was trying to fix the problem when some unidentified miscreants came there on motorcycle and started talking to him. They added that the miscreants then took Rs.500 from his pocket at the point of revolver and started threatening to take out other belongings.
Police officials said that when the tractor driver tried to run away from the spot, the miscreants fired at him. They added that the bullet pierced in his back and he fell down.
Cops said that after that the injured Chamkaur called his family members over the phone. They added that after receiving the information, the family members of injured reached the spot and shifted him to Jagraon Hospital after which doctors referred him to Ludhiana’s DMC Hospital for specialized treatment.
In the meanwhile, after police got information about the matter, they started probe into the matter.
