Imphal, March 06 2021: Shumang Leela Festival 2020-21 will commence tomorrow at Thokchom Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen at Konung Mamang.

Sougrakpam Hemanta, lifetime secretary, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council announced this today at a press conference held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen and added that 18 female and 12 male shumang leela groups are participating in the festival.

Plays by female shumang leela groups will be shown from March 8 to 16 while plays by male groups are scheduled for March 17-22, S Hemanta added.

He added that the normal shows of 'Shumang Leela' which was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic will be resumed after the festival.

Oja Bori award, Oja Gojen award, Madhumangol award, Gulamjat Ideal award, Luwangthem Yaima award and Pidonu award will be distributed on March 23, he told the media.

'Leikanglada Thambal' a play by Sanaleibak Nachom Artistes will be shown on the inaugural day of the festival.
