PMK gets ‘mango’ symbol
The election commission has allotted ‘Mango’ symbol to Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on a request from the party to contest in the assembly election. The PMK is a recognised state party in Union Territory of Puducherry, having the reserved symbol, ‘Mango.’ In a letter to the chief electoral officer Satyabrata Sahoo, the commission secretary Jaydeb Lahiri said the party had made the request for allotment of the symbol to its candidates in the assembly elections in TN. “The commission has decided to extend the concession sought,” Lahiri said.

Election Commission lists 11 documents other than voter IDs electors can produce and vote
The election commission announced 11 alternative photo identity documents, other than the electors photo identity card (EPIC), that voters can carry to polling booths for confirming identity. The alternatives are — Aadhaar card, MGRNEGA job card, passbooks with photograph issued by banks/post offices, health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of Union ministry of labour, driving licence, pan card, smart card issued by registrar general of India under National Population Register, Indian passport, pension document with photograph, service identity cards with photo issued to employees by central/state government/PSUs/ public limited companies and official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs.
