HYDERABAD: The Congress on Saturday questioned the silence being maintained by TRS and BJP over the rising unemployment problem and demanded that both the parties explain to the people how their governments are going to solve it before seeking votes.
Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said TRS and BJP were indulging in blame games on issues other than the rising problem of unemployment, only to divert attention of the people from the failures of their governments in the state and at the centre.
Addressing a series of meetings as part of MLC elections campaign for party candidate S Ramulu Naik contesting from Nalgonda-Warangal-Khammam Graduates constituency, Uttam demanded that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao must break his silence over the unemployment issue and tell the people how he proposes to provide jobs to nearly 30 lakh youth in Telangana.
TRS and BJP leaders should speak about unemployment in Telangana and share details of jobs lost since 2014. Both the parties have been in power since 2014 and their leaders must learn to act like representatives of the ruling party. "As an opposition, Congress is exposing the failures of TRS and BJP governments. It is the duty of the ruling TRS in Telangana and BJP at the centre to suggest solutions. Instead, both the ruling parties are still talking about the problems exposing their inefficiency in resolving the issues being faced by the people," Uttam said.
Stating that CM KCR cannot wash off his hands by claiming that the state government has provided thousands of jobs, he said the allegations and counter-allegations between TRS and BJP leaders over ITIR and Kazipet rail coach factory exposes both the parties of having betrayed Telangana and now they are trying to fix the percentage of blame on each other.
The Congress has been saying that the BJP government was not sincere towards Telangana. However, CM KCR supported several major decisions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Referring to the growth figures reportedly furnished by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics to the Centre claiming 1.35% GSDP growth in the current fiscal 2020-21, Uttam sought to caution the TRS government from inflating the figures to claim economic growth.
“The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) and the 15th Finance Commission have revealed in their reports that the Telangana government has committed deliberate accounting errors to inflate figures of revenues and growth. It was done to raise huge loans at high interest rates from various agencies. Those amounts were utilised on projects which fetched commissions for TRS leaders,” he alleged.
