Cvoid-19 norms: Rajkot cops collect Rs 13cr fine in 9 months

Rajkot: City police has collected Rs 13.64 crore as fine from offenders caught not wearing mask and spitting in public places between June 1 and February end.
Making the data on work done during the pandemic public, police also mentioned that nearly 22,000 vehicles had been detained for defying curfew or lockdown. Cops also collected maximum fines during festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali and Eid.
Unlock 1 started from June 1 and thereafter the highest penalty amount of Rs 5.28 crore, of the total Rs 13.64 crore, was collected from 2.27 lakh people during Unlock 6 and 7 between October and February.
Cops also registered 9,167 cases of notification violation and 6,029 cases under IPC sections 269 (negligent act that can spread infection of disease) and 270 (malignant act).
While cops had registered 2,020 cases using drone camera during night curfew, they issued 1.26 lakh e-memos to those riding vehicles without wearing masks.
