Annual Mahashivaratri Yatra festival in Beed cancelled

Beed, Mar 6 (UNI) Collector Ravindra Jagtap on Saturday ordered to cancel the Mahashivaratri Yatra festival at Parli-Vaijnath starting from March 11, as a preventive measure to curb the spread of Covid-19 virus in the district.
It may be noted that Parli-Vaijnath is one of 12 'Jyotirlingas' in the country and the Mahashivaratri festival is celebrated in a big way in this temple town every year, with millions of devotees taking part in 5-day festivity.
However, since Covid-19 cases have been increasing in Parli-Vaijnath taluka over last few days, the administration took a decision to cancel the event as a precautionary measure.
Accordingly, any person or organization who is found to be not complying with this order will be prosecuted under section 188 of Indian Penal Code, Disaster Management Act and the provisions of the Contagious Diseases Control Act, an official release said here.
