Two non-locals arrested alongwith pistol on Srinagar-Jammu highway

Srinagar, Mar 6 (UNI) Two non-locals, both resident of Uttar Pradesh (UP), were arrested alongwith arms and ammunition, including a pistol and live rounds, on Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

Official sources on Saturday said that following specific information, security forces intercepted a vehicle during an operation near Jawahar Tunnel on the highway in south Kashmir late last night. “During checking, security forces recovered a pistol and about two dozen live rounds from the vehicle,” they said.

They said two persons onboard the vehicle, identified as Mohammad Danish and Mohammad Nawshad, both resident of Raja Tajpur in UP, were immediately taken into custody. “Police has registered a case and initiated investigation to into the incident,” they said.

They said more arrests could happen in the coming days.
