Hyderabad: Prime Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has indicated that the state budget for 2021-22 will be promising with more allocations for various welfare and development programs than the previous budget. He stated that the budget session of the Legislative Assembly would probably start in mid-March. He assured that the State Government, in addition to the implementation of various welfare and development programs, would continue the existing sheep distribution program, which even received appreciation from the center.

The prime minister held a high-level review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan on Saturday on the proposed budget estimates. He examined the budget estimates of various departments to be included in the financial statements after taking into account the financial reports submitted by the officials. He stated that the Covid-19 pandemic had a detrimental effect on the state coffers, causing a loss of more than Rs 50,000 million in revenue collection. However, economic activity in the state increased later and government revenue improved significantly.

Chandrashekhar Rao instructed the officials to make budget provision for the distribution of three units of sheep as part of the sheep distribution scheme for economic empowerment of the Yadava, Golla and Kurma communities. The state government has already distributed 3.7 lakh sheep units across the state to the community members.

“The Center acknowledged our efforts and appreciated the program for the distribution of sheep, which made Telangana the state with the highest sheep population in the country. In the same way, the distribution program for fishermen also produces the desired results and must be continued, ”he added.

As the guidelines for budget estimates and allocations were finalized, the Prime Minister instructed the Minister of Finance, T Harish Rao, to hold meetings with the officials of the roads and buildings, Panchayat Raj, municipal administration, education, irrigation and other departments respectively. from Sunday. . After the budget advice has been finalized with all the departments, the Prime Minister will chair another meeting and give the budget final attention.
