MoHFW tells statements, UTs with rising COVID cases for ‘Test, follow and treat’

New Delhi: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) encouraged the states on Saturday and a daily increase in new COVID-19 cases and a high active case load, to return to the basics of ‘Test, follow and treat’.

According to an official release issued by the ministry, Rajesh Bhushan of the Union’s health secretary and member of NITI Aayog Vinod K. Paul met today with health secretaries and managing directors of the national health mission of Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, chat. and Union Territories of Delhi and Chandigarh.

“These states / UTs have seen an increase in positivity and an increasing number of daily positive cases in the recent past,” the release reads.

The officials have the ongoing measures for the public health of supervision, inclusion and management of COVID-19 cases after the sharp increase in daily new cases COVID-19 and the high number of active case loads reported from these eight states / UTs.

“These states / UTs have been asked to continue the effective ‘Track Track and Treat’ strategy that has yielded rich dividends at the height of the pandemic,” the report said.

During the meeting, it was pointed out that 9 districts in Delhi, 15 in Haryana, 10 in Andhra Pradesh, 10 in Odisha, 9 in Himachal Pradesh, 7 in Uttarakhand, 2 in Goa and one district in Chandigarh are still of concern. as these districts see a decrease in the total tests, a low proportion of RT-PCR tests, an increase in weekly positivity and a low number of contact detection of the COVID positive cases.

This can pose a significant risk of transfer to neighboring states and UTs.
The ministry urged the officials of these states / UTs to increase the proportion of RT-PCR tests in districts, depending on high levels of antigen testing, to refocus on supervision and strict restriction of the areas in selected districts that have a group cases see and perform an average close contact detection of at least 20 people per positive case.

The ministry also asked them to speed up vaccination against the virus for priority population groups in districts reporting higher cases.

The civil servants and officials of the UTs were also asked to promote COVID-appropriate behavior through communication and enforcement.
