British Indian filmmaker Gurinder Chadha was in for a shock when the Punjabi mother in her was disappointed by her own kid. The filmmaker took to her social media handle on Thursday as she shared a picture of her kid having the quintessential Punjabi aloo parantha with a fork and knife. The very English twist to this desi dish, best enjoyed with hands and lots of butter or malai, certainly left Gurinder disappointed as she tweeted, “Oh wow is me!” She further questioned herself and wrote how on Earth did she raise a child who insists on eating the aloo paranthas with a knife and fork. Ending the tweet, Gurinder used the typical Punjabi phrase used to express utter disappointment as she wrote, "Fitteh Mooh!"

The tweet has garnered 6.2K likes and over 400 retweets since it was shared on the microblogging site. The picture has certainly resonated with fellow Punjabis on Twitter who expressed their shock by commenting on her post.

One of the comments posted on her tweet read that it was indeed a very unauthentic and, dare they say, a very tasteless way of eating a parantha. While another user wrote that it is alright as long as one gets the joyful feeling of eating an aloo parantha like an omelette. He further mentioned that as long as the authentic Punjabi repast is being savoured, it is acceptable. Consoling Gurinder, the user mentioned some other outrageous ways people savour their food and said that she should think of those who eat a Mango with a fork and knife and those who want to peel a grape and then eat it.

While some shared a gif ultra-dramatic gif Kirron Kher from Om Shanti Om where she is clearly horrified. For some, the picture showed ‘gross injustice’ being done to aloo parantha. One comment read how their heart has been shattered into pieces after seeing the humiliation of the Punjabi cuisine.

While some users pointed out how the child is eating the parantha with an onion-tomato salad when one has the option of having it with a flavourful Indian achaar or pickles.
