Unidentified flying objects (UFO) and aliens have never failed to intrigue the folks who believe that there is the possibility of life that exists beyond Earth. To add to everyone’s curiosity, former US President Barack Obama recently accepted on a show that he had asked for information about aliens during his presidential tenure, however, he did not reveal what he knows about aliens. Reportedly, the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force of the United States Department of Defense had issued two classified intelligence position reports in 2018 and the 2020 summer.

So does that mean aliens exist? What about the UFO sightings that the Pentagon has acknowledged so far? Renowned American astrophysicist and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson made his thoughts somewhat clear on this on Friday when he shared a snapshot from a video that was taken by US Navy Pilots in training several years ago showing that they had encountered unidentified flying objects or UFOs.

Keeping it short and precise, Tyson wrote: “Not knowing what it is, does not count as evidence for knowing what it is.” The science lover, with the crisp post, suggested that without knowing what we have witnessed so far is good enough a reason to discard it as it doesn’t count as evidence.

What did the people have to say about his thoughts?

“I used to really believe a lot of UFOs were aliens, but then I was watching a “documentary” on youtube and the guy saw something in the the sky and literally said “I don’t know what it was, but I know it was aliens”. That was the moment I stopped believing. I want these navy vids to be ETIs, but there’s no evidence for that. We don’t know what they were,” commented one.

“Oh Neil I have so much respect for you but I know it’s incredibly hard to believe that we don’t understand that there must be some sort of way to bend the laws of physics around the boundaries that keep us from being able to travel faster than the speed of light. But one day we will have undeniable proof that we aren’t alone in the universe and that they have found a way to travel across the vast amounts of space with ease.”

“Well, the guys who spent 30 years flying machines had no clue what flying machine could move like that. Whether it’s alien or man-made, it is an unidentified flying object.”

“It’s evidence of something we can’t explain, but speaking as someone who truly believes that we aren’t alone in the universe, it’s not evidence of alien life. Not unless we know that that is indeed a picture of alien life,” chimed another.

“This footage, the acknowledgement by the US that’s it’s unidentifiable and appears to perform unlike known aircraft, and David Fravors first-hand account of seeing this is definitely interesting. Not saying its aliens but it’s totally aliens.”

More recently, it was reported that there exist two classified reports by the Pentagon on UFOs. A leaked photo of a mysterious object was a part of the classified report, reported Daily Mail.

The Pentagon report included a leaked photo, an account of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena emerging from the ocean through the sky, and an admission that the object might have an extraterrestrial origin.

Earlier, The Pentagon had said on its official website that it had chosen to declassify the videos so as to clear any doubts or misconceptions about the authenticity of the videos.

Commenting on the revelation, Nick Pope, the person who investigated UFOs for the UK Ministry of Defence, said that it will give the public a peek behind the curtains when it comes to the handling of UFO issues by the government. As per him, this shows that the US government is taking the UFO phenomena seriously. Nick said that he expects there will be more revelations soon.

A Harvard professor, however, believes that dismissing aliens as non-existent would be foolish. “Thinking that we are unique and special and privileged is arrogant,” he had said. “The correct approach is to be modest and say: ‘We’re nothing special, there are lots of other cultures out there, and we just need to find them.'”
