
Gyalshing, 5th March (IPR): The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) visited Bamboo Handicraft Technical Training programme, promoted by Development Commission (HANDICRAFT), Government of India at Ratomatay Barthang under Gyalshing Bermiok Constituency, today. He was accompanied by Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA of Gyalshing Bermiok Constituency ,Shri Lok Nath Sharma and other dignitaries.
On his brief visit, HCM applauded the crafting skills of the trainees and extended his best wishes for the future endeavours.He encouraged the trainees towards entrepreneurship and advised them to imbibe the crafting skills to be self reliant for sustainable livelihood.
Bamboo Consultant, Horticulture Department, Government of Sikkim, Dr Tika Sharma informed on various aspects of the training programme including the provision of financial incentives of Rs.300/- (Three Hundred) which is being availed to each participating trainees on daily basis. A total of forty participants have been attending the two month long training programme.
It has been informed that the training programme has created an enormous range of opportunities for interested unemployed youths in the sector of bamboo handicraft.
