'Mo School' to start massive monitoring drive

BHUBANESWAR: To ensure effective implementation of Mo School programme - an alumni contribution programme for school development, a massive monitoring drive will be launched soon.
As per the plan programme monitoring teams and senior officials of Mo School will visit different schools regularly and ensure effective implementation of the programme at school-level. The officials will submit a detailed report on project implementation in the schools.
“From March 6, the Mo School team will cover 200 schools in 50 days and review the projects. An appreciation letter by the chief minister would be presented to alumni members of the schools,” said a senior officer of the programme.
The senior officials of Mo School will divide into three teams and visit various schools in all 30 districts to review the projects. They will have a detailed discussion with the school HMs, alumni associations and local public to gather knowledge about the day to day problems the pupils face or facilities which they are deprived of.
‘Mo School Abhiyan’, started in 2017 by chief minister Naveen Patnaik to revamp the state school ecosystem, has been yielding tremendous success on all counts.
Alumni from across the globe are connecting to their alma mater and have donated more than Rs80.34 crore towards the initiative. With the matching grant from government of around Rs160 crore, projects worth Rs240 crore are under progress in schools across the state. Till now, multiple developmental projects in 25,520 schools across 30 districts have been completed while some projects are in the pipeline.
To encourage citizens to take part in the Abhiyan, chairperson of the project Susmita Bagchi has been emphasizing on public disclosure of Mo School project expenditure at school-level. An ‘Asset Register’ for the Mo School projects is being worked out which will be put in school micro websites for public view. Special auditors are deployed to audit the school level projects ensuring transparency, official sources said.
