Mar. 5—A Lansford man who admitted to throwing a cat from a second story window faces criminal action, borough police say.

Jimmie Brothers III, 31, was charged with a felony of aggravated cruelty to animals and a misdemeanor of cruelty to animals. The charges were filed against him Jan. 20 and he was released on $20,000 unsecured bail Feb. 20 by Magisterial District Judge Eric Schrantz, Jim Thorpe. Brothers later waived his right to a Wednesday preliminary hearing.

According to arrest papers:

An anonymous caller on Dec. 30 around 11 a.m. reported someone threw the feline from a window at 376 W. Snyder Ave., and the incident was captured on video. The cat hit the ground and was unable to move. Its condition wasn't included in court filings but a criminal complaint said it was thrown across the street and landed on its head, knocking the feline unconscious.

Around 5 p.m., police went to the home and spoke to Brothers, who admitted to throwing the cat because it bit his daughter and made him angry.
