The Mumbai Zonal Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) today filed its chargesheet in the alleged drug probe related to the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. NCB’s Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhade, who overlooked the entire probe, confirmed the development but declined to comment on further details.
A total of 35 people have been named in the chargesheet. Among those who are mentioned in the chargesheet include Rajput’s former girlfriend Rhea Chakrabarty and her brother Shovik Chakrabarty. Rajput’s former manager Samuel Miranda and household help Dipesh Sawant have also been named.
Anuj Keshwani, who is accused of keeping big quantity of drugs such as LSD sheets and marijuana, has also been chargesheeted. Two college students, who are allegedly last mile peddlars alongwith two foreign nationals including Agisilaos Demetriades, brother of Arjun Rampal’s partner, have been included in the chargesheet as well.
Kshitij Prasad has also been named. Out of all the chargesheeted people, five are absconding.
According to the sources in the NCB, the chargesheet details how various drugs including synthetic narcotic substances were being procured at the highest level and then distributed across Mumbai through various hands.
“From drugs being manufactured to the the supply chain and ultimately its consumption, the trail has been mentioned,” said a source from the NCB. The evidence includes details of WhatsApp messages that were exchanged as well as the seizures that happened during raids.
A formal case was registered on August 26, 2020 by the NCB. Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his residence on June 14 , 2020.
