Chilean fixed broadband lines climb 10% on Covid effect in Q3

Friday 5 March 2021 | 12:10 CET | News
The number of fixed internet accesses in Chile rose to 3.7 million at the end of the third quarter of 2020, up 9.8 percent compared to the year-earlier figure, according to the latest update from telecommunications regulator Subtel. The watchdog said fixed broadband take-up has surged since the start of the Covid-19 crisis, prompted by home working and distance learning needs during lockdowns imposed by the government. A total of 58.8 percent of homes in Chile now have fixed internet, up nearly 8 percentage points year on year.
