Bafana Bafana star Bongani Zungu made a cameo appearance as Rangers moved a step closer to clinching the Scottish Premiership title with a 1-0 win at Livingstone on Wednesday.

Alfredo Morelos' late winner in the 87th minute moved Rangers to within four points of claiming a first league title since the 2000/2001 season.

Steven Gerrard's side could now clinch the league trophy with a win over St Mirren at Ibrox this Saturday if Celtic drop points against Dundee the following day.

Midfielder Zungu was a late substitute and was introduced by Gerrard during stoppage time in the 91st minute as Rangers held onto their narrow lead.

The 28-year-old will be hoping to play an influential role in the title run-in with the aim of clinching a permanent deal after being found guilty of breaching Covid-19 regulations.

Gerrard, who was sent to the stand for a foul mouthed half-time rant at the referee hailed his team's spirit after the final whistle for clinching a dramatic win.
