Valheim Steam Sales Cross 5 Million

Indie breakout hit Valheim has crossed over five million copies sold. The studio, Iron Gate Studios, revealed the news through a Steam post where it also revealed some interesting numbers about Valheim.

Players have collectively spent more than 15,000 years playing Valheim. More than 35 million hours of Valheim gameplay was watched on Twitch, and Valheim is now the 39th best user-reviewed game of all time on Steam.

"We watch with pride and excitement, and struggle to find the right words to express our gratitude to you, the community," says the post on Steam. "Exciting new milestones lie ahead, and we for one cannot wait to show you more of the game as we journey through our 2021 Roadmap."

Studio co-founder Henrik Törnqvist has earlier spoken about how each update to Valheim will introduced new changes to the game, adding some context to its 2021 roadmap.

The first major upcoming update, Hearth and Home, will focus on improving the building aspect of the game. Update three, Ships and the Sea, will add ship customisation to the game, along with expansions to the ocean biome.

After coming out in February, Valheim quickly became what has been regarded as the biggest launch for a survival game yet. Less than 2 weeks after its original release, Valheim had hit an all-time peak of 367,443 players on Steam. Valheim has since hit even higher numbers throughout its life, going as high as 502,387 concurrent players on Steam in February.

Valheim is an open-ended survival game, and is available on Steam for Rs. 529. Valheim is still in early access.
