30 more private hospitals may get nod for C-vax

Gurgaon: Thirty more private hospitals are expected to be allowed to carry out the Covid-19 vaccination drive in the city for the 60-plus population and those aged between 45 and 59 who have comorbidities. A proposal in this regard has been sent from the Gurgaon health department to the state government. With this, a total of 55 private facilities may be able to administer the vaccine in the coming days to those eligible in Phase 3.
Moreover, the private hospitals will also be able to hold session sites on all days of the week. The government centres will continue conducting the drive on the four scheduled days, ie, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The timings for both will remain the same, from 9am to 5pm.
On Tuesday, the Centre had decided to allow even private hospitals not affiliated to Ayushman Bharat, CGHS and state schemes to be included as centres for administering the inoculations. Private hospitals can register as Covid vaccination centres (CVCs) if they have cold chain capacity, sufficient rooms, trained vaccinators and management capacity for adverse events following immunisation (AEFI), Gurgaon chief medical officer Virender Yadav said. “We have sent a list to the Haryana government of the hospitals that are eligible. We are waiting for approval,” he added.
The 30 private hospitals are Aarvy, C K Birla, Cloudnine, Columbia Asia, Fortis, K K Healthcare, Kathuria, Life Aid Medical Centre, Mamta, Max, Orbit, Polaris, Satyam Medicare, Sethi, Sheetla, Shri Govind, Vardaan, Yashroop, Tirath Ram, Centre for Sight, Kriti, Geetanjali, Dayal Eye Centre, Ahooja Eye and Dental Institute, Alfa Health Care, Bhanot, 7 Med India Private Limited, IAS Medicare, Jai Sai Ram and Lal Superspeciality.
From Thursday, the number of session sites will go up to 54. The set target is 5,400 recipients. “We will ensure that advance and immediate payment are made by the private hospitals as per Government of India guidelines. No vaccine will be given to private empanelled hospitals on a loan basis,” said Yadav.
He added that five session sites could be allowed to conduct the drive 24/7 soon. “We will have one session site in a government set-up and four in private hospitals for administering shots 24/7,” he said.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, two session sites were held at Poly Clinic in Sector 31 to train Asha workers in cohort mobilisation. At cohort facilities, the health department vaccinates target groups of potential recipients. There was a turnout of 124% as 248 recipients took their first jabs. The set target was 200. Apart from them, 26 healthcare workers were given their second doses.
