Madras HC delivers split verdict in DA case against TN Minister

Madras HC delivers split verdict in DA case against TN Minister

Chennai, Mar 4 (UNI) A two-member Bench of the Madras

High Court today delivered a split verdict in the case

relating to amassment of wealth disproportionate to his

known sources of income by Tamil Nadu Milk Dairy and

Development Minister K T Rajenthra Balaji between 2011

and 2013.

While Justice M Sathyanararanan stayed clear of the

inquiry report filed by the Directorate of Vigilance and

Anti-Corruption (DVAC) giving a clean chit and insisted

on registering an FIR against the Minister for conducting

a full-fledged probe, Ms Justice R Hemalatha ordered

that there was no need to file an FIR after the State

government accepted the DVAC report and dropped

further proceedings.

In view of the split verdict, the matter would be

placed before Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee for

listing the case before a Third Judge for a fresh

hearing.

The split judgement was delivered on a writ petition

filed in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court

in 2013 seeking a DVAC probe against the Minister.
