GREATER NOIDA: A 24-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his girlfriend’s 19-year-old brother, police said on Wednesday. The act was caught on CCTV camera and the footage went viral, where the accused can be seen stabbing Deepak at least 20 times.
The accused waited for Deepak outside a restaurant on GT Road in Badalpur area, ran towards him when the latter reached the spot and stabbed him.
Deepak — a private company executive — tried to run away from the spot, but Vipin continued to stab him in the neck, chest and left shoulder till the latter fell on the ground.
In the video, a furious Vipin can be seen heading back for a few seconds only to return and stabbing Deepak in the hip again. After this, Vipin returned to his bike and fled the spot. The incident occurred on Monday. Vipin was arrested on the same evening, police said.
The family members of Deepak and a few villagers blocked traffic on NH-91 late Tuesday evening and refused to cremate his body. Cops intervened and pacified the family after the stretch witnessed long snarls. Deepak’s family alleged that three other family members of the accused were also involved in the crime, but cops denied the charges, saying the CCTV footage was clear and only Vipin was seen stabbing Deepak. Deepak’s family refused to cremate the body, demanding other family members of the accused be arrested. Later, cops convinced them and the body was cremated on Wednesday afternoon. DCP (central Noida) Harish Chander said Deepak used to talk to Vipin’s sister on phone, but the accused used to object to it. Another police officer told TOI that Vipin had asked his sister, a minor, not to talk to Deepak several times and also warned him against doing it again.
“On Monday, he had heard his sister talking to Deepak over the phone and had an argument with her. Later, when he went to the GT Road, he saw Deepak and got a kitchen knife to kill him. He waited for him to reach near Om restaurant and started stabbing him indiscriminately in a fit of rage,” the officer said.
