It was a clear Friday morning in the national capital with the minimum temperature settling at 14.4 degrees Celsius, the Met office said.The weatherman has forecast a mainly clear sky for the rest of the day, with strong surface winds with a speed of 20-30 kmph. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius.The humidity recorded at 8.30am was 72 per cent.
36 people without valid passport, visa deported
Delhi Police, in coordination with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, have deported 36 foreign nationals from Dwarka for staying in the capital without a valid passport or visa since January this year. Delhi Police said a growing number of African nationals were looking for money earning opportunities in the capital. A number of African nationals reside in Mohan Garden area, with many of them staying on fake or expired visas.

Delhi on Thursday recorded its warmest day of the year so far, with the mercury touching 33.9 degrees Celsius at Safdarjung— city’s base station for weather. This is seven degrees above normal temperature for this time of the year. India Meteorological Department says conditions are set to get even warmer over the next seven days and a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius is expected on March 7. Before this, the warmest day of the year so far was last Thursday, when Delhi recorded a high of 33.2 degrees Celsius.
22-yr-old dies as Merc rams car in Dwarka
A 22-year-old resident of Panipat was killed and his colleague critically injured when a speeding Mercedes rammed their car at a crossing in Dwarka’s Sector 6 early on Thursday. The Mercedes driver is absconding. Akash Ranaage, the deceased, and Rahul Rana(23) worked for an insurance firm and were returning from an office party when the accident took place.

With BJP failing to win even one seat in the municipal bypolls held in five wards, Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta said the party would contest the 2022 elections with renewed energy and a new strategy. He also accused AAP and Congress of reaching an “agreement” to defeat them. Gupta said BJP would introspect and find out the reasons for its bad performance and then adopt a new strategy. “We will see what went wrong and try to rectify it. However, our party members worked hard despite a negative campaign by AAP and its government on the working of the corporations. Our party is against corruption,” he added.
Woman riding scooter crushed by truck on flyover, driver arrested
A 45-year-old woman was mowed down by a truck in northwest Delhi’s Azadpur on Wednesday afternoon. Varsha, riding a scooter, was getting down from the Azadpur flyover when the truck hit her from behind, killing her on the spot. The errant driver tried to flee but was arrested later.

Book editor accused of sex assault, case filed
A case has been registered against an editor of National Book Trust for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at his house in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj last year. Though police have questioned him, the accused is yet to be arrested. The accused didn’t respond to TOI’s queries about the alleged incident. The 46-year-old woman alleged in her complaint to police that the crime took place in October 2020. The police complaint was given on February 2 after which an FIR was registered. Deputy commissioner of police (Southwest) Ingit Pratap Singh said the editor was booked under IPC Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) at Vasant Kunj (North) police station. The victim had also written a post on Facebook about the alleged incident.
