Kaizer Chiefs captain Ramahlwe Mphahlele says he and his teammates need to 'take responsibility' for their form ahead of an important CAF Champions League clash with Petro de Luanda on Saturday.

Amakhosi fought against the odds to qualify for the Group Stage and kicked off with a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Horoya AC in February ahead of a difficult 4-0 defeat to Wydad AC, where Mphahlele was dismissed in injury time at the end of the game.

Gavin Hunt's side are next in action against Angolan opposition, who have lost both their opening games, giving Chiefs belief in a positive result.

Mphahlele told iDiski Times: "Look it doesn't need a rocket scientist, we know, we're not in a good space, we're not doing well, the results are not forthcoming.

"We as players have to take responsibility for that and say, 'guys, are we doing enough?' Which I think we are not; we are not doing enough to help the club.

"I mean, this is one of the biggest clubs and we're going through what we're going through.

"We can't give up now; we as the players have to take full responsibility, especially senior players."
