Teen playing on phone falls from 12th floor

Surat: A 17-year-old girl died after she fell off from the 12th floor of a high-rise building in Pal-Bhatha area on Monday evening.
Deceased Trupti Purohit, student of Class XI and resident of Greencity high-rise apartments was playing on a mobile phone in the gallery of the apartment when she accidentally fell to the ground, said cops after preliminary investigation.
Her parents were not present at home and she was alone with her siblings.
Family members told the police that the girl was sitting on a parapet of the gallery and lost her balance. She was shifted to a hospital in a critical condition where she was declared dead during treatment. Trupti’s father runs a textile shop in the Textile Market area and the family hails from Jalore in Rajasthan.
In another shocking incident, an 11-year-old boy was found dead at his home on Tuesday after he accidentally strangled himself with a cloth bag that was kept hanging on the wall.
Ansh son a labourer parents, was found hanging from a cloth bag kept on a wall at his residence in the Sachin GIDC area of the city on Tuesday evening. Ansh was alone at home when his father Nebulal along with his mother had gone out to work. The deceased always stays alone at home for the whole day when his parents go to work. However, on Tuesday evening a neighbour alerted Nebulal over phone that his son is seen hanging with the bag belt wrapped around his neck.
The father rushed home and immediately shifted the boy to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Police investigation revealed that neighbours found the boy hanging.
Cops suspect that the boy’s head must have got stuck in the bag while playing and while attempting to free himself, the belt may have got wrapped around his neck strangling him to death.
