Save 20%: A year of the Circle Home Plus parental control app (plus the hub) usually goes for $129.99, but using code SCREENFREE20 drops the bundle to $103.20 as of March 3.

Schools have been operating on a pandemic schedule for almost a year. Despite the familiarity families have with both at-home and in-school learning now, flip-flopping environments can still be distracting for kids.

For the times when parents can't supervise a school day at home, a parental control app could be the helping hand that prevents homework time from turning into TikTok time. Circle Home Plus, one of our favorites, is currently offering a 20% discount with code SCREENFREE20. For a limited time, one year of the premium parental control software and the hub that comes with it are only $103.20 (plus free two-day shipping) rather than the usual $129.

Circle Home Plus works a little differently than other parental control software. It's a filter for your home WiFi that monitors each kid's behavior through a cute, clean dashboard. The Circle Home Plus is actually the name of the hub that comes with the service. It looks like a Bluetooth speaker and can be synced with a phone or account with a QR code.

Profiles are color-coded based on age filters: kid, teen, adult, and none. The "kid" platform organizes supported apps like Cartoon Network and TikTok, which can be toggled on and off manually or on set schedules. The "Bedtime" setting cuts internet access off at a certain time each night, but still allows offline games or books. (Bedtimes can be customized for different people.) Parents can reward kids for good behavior by sending a reward message, which can come in the form of extending a screen time limit or making bedtime a little later.

Circle's settings are extended with a local VPN when a device moves out of WiFi range — so it won't be a free-for-all if your kid attends a sleepover.
