Covid-19: 54 students infected at Kunjpura Sainik School in Haryana's Karnal

KARNAL: As many as 54 students in Kunjpura Sainik School in Haryana’s Karnal district tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday, according to chief medical officer Dr Yogesh Sharma.
Three students in the residential school had tested positive on Monday after which 390 students and other staffwere tested. On Tuesday, the results of 54 students were found positive. Dr Sharma said almost all the students, who had tested positive, were asymptomatic.
School hostel containment zone
The health department’s teams have been deputed at the school premises and the hostel has been declared a containment zone.
According to the authorities, the school reopened on February14, 2021, and students were allowed to enter the campus and join the classes only after they got a Covid-19 RT-PCR negative test report.
The Sainik School in Kunjpura was among the five Sainik schools started in 1961 across the country and it has the rare distinction of sending around 800 cadets to the NDA, the highest number of cadets sent by any other Sainik School of the country.
Karnal deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said that all suspected cases in Kunjpura block will be tested and a door-to-door survey would be conducted by the health department team.
