GURUGRAM: The district administration will conduct a campaign to find out the number of malnourished children in the city. The women and child department has started training anganwadi workers and supervisors before kicking off the campaign called Malnutrition Free Gurugram.
Under the campaign, a survey to identify malnourished children below the age of five years will also be carried out. As part of the training, the anganwadi workers will carry out the survey in all blocks of the district simultaneously. After the survey is over, the administration will conduct an awareness drive on good nutrition for the families of these children.
“Anthropometric measurements play a crucial role in tackling malnutrition in children. We have devised a seven-day programme to strengthen skills of our anganwadi workers and other staff to identify malnourished kids. After the survey and data collection, we will also work on a strategy which would help us tackle the problem,” said Sunaina Khatri, district programme officer of women and child department, Gurugram.
The administration has also tied up with the organisation — Save The Children — to provide training to its workers. An official said the focus will be on those children who are found suffering from stunting and are underweight.
