Fund allocated for exploration of Eastern/Western Block of Namchik-Namphuk coal field not surrendered: Arunachal Minister

Itanagar, Mar 2 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Geology and Mining Minister Kamlung Mossang today informed the Assembly that Rs 14 crore funds allocated by the Union Ministry of Coal for exploration of eastern/western block of Namchik-Namphuk Coal Field in Changlang district was given to Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited (CMPDI), Ranchi, which is the nodal agency to take up exploration on behalf of the MoC.
Replying to a supplementary from member Wanglin Lowangdong, the Minister said, the fund that has been allocated for taking up for detailed survey and exploration has not been placed to the state government.
After getting approval from the MoC, the Institute had floated e-tender for three times but the process of e-tendering could not be completed due to non-participation of any exploration company.
He, however, said that CMPDI has kept provision in their exploration program for 2021 and as of now the state govt’s Dept of Geology and Mining will be assisting this Institute for fresh tendering for exploration, particularly in the eastern & western blocks of Namchik-Namphuk Coal Field.
“Now, the State Govt is going ahead on behalf of CMPDI to float tender again,” the Minister said, adding, the fund allocated has not been surrendered yet.
Earlier, Lowangdong said, “We all know that every state needs revenue for the functioning in the matters of development and progress of the state. One sector which can earn huge resources and revenue is the mines and mineral sector.”
He said the fund allocated by the MoC has to be used for exploring the potentiality of harvesting coal. Whatever mineral resources we have in our state, we should explore and exploit it, he added.
When the senior Congress member stated that the State does not have its ‘coal policy’, the Minister said, it’s a Central subject and that’s why the question of having state policy does not arise.
