Similipal sanctuary fire under control: Naveen

Bhubaneswar, Mar 3 (UNI) Fire in Similipal sanctuary is under control, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said here today.



Reviewing the fire situation in Similipal Sanctuary at a high level meeting, Mr Patnaik said Similipal is not only a priceless property of Odisha or India but also of the whole world and directed the officials to remain alert and take preventive measures for its security.



Official sources said more than 1,000 persons, 40 vehicles and several blowers were deployed to douse the forest fire.



Additional Chief Secretary Mona Sharma said fire in Similipal is under control. No loss of life was reported. Standard Operating Procedure has been issued to control the fire.



She said no big tree was affected by the fire. The DFO has been instructed to apprise the state government and the District Collector about fire alert in the evening daily.



The Additional Chief Secretary said PCCF wildlife is present at the spot and keeping a vigil on the situation.
