Peru approves use of 3.5 GHz band for 5G ahead of tender

Tuesday 2 March 2021 | 11:08 CET | News
Peru's Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) has cleared the use of 3.5 GHz frequencies for 5G services by operators with spectrum holdings in that band ahead of a forthcoming tender. In a statement, the MTC said the auction would award 600 MHz in the 26 GHz band and 300 MHz in the 3.5 GHz band, the highest amount of spectrum the country has ever granted in just one tender. Investment promotion agency ProInversion has been tasked with preparing the auction for the first half of 2022.
