OSMC serves show-cause notices to two firms for supplying defective covid kits

Bhubaneswar, Mar 2 (UNI) Odisha State Medical Corporation(OSMC) today issued show-cause notices to two firms— one in Delhi and the other at Haryana for supplying defective covid test kits.
The two firms were asked to reply within three days as to why action will not be taken against them for supplying defective test kits.
The two firms had supplied the covid test kits which were used in Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla and some students were found covid positive forcing the university authority to suspend the classes, declare the hostels and surrounding areas as micro containment and buffer zone.
Additional chief secretary Pradipta Mohapatra today said no students in Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) , Burla in Sambalpur district were found covid positive.
The students were tested covid positive due to faulty antigen testing kits supplied by the two firms. As many as 25 students of VSSUT were tested positive for Covid-19 on February 27 last during an antigen test.

Mr Mohapatra said all of them were tested negative for Coronavirus in the RT-PCR test.
After the students were tested negative, the authorities at a meeting deliberating to restart the classes and reschedule the examinations. A decision in this regard is likely to be taken soon,VSSUT sources said.
